Agbayani’s comeback bid well accepted

LINGAYEN - Majority of Pangasinan mayors here are reportedly supporting the bid of Representative Victor E.Agbayani of the second district for the governorship of this province anew.

This was learned from a ranking official of the Pangasinan Mayor’s League PML who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

He said Victor did the right thing so that the people may now choose whom among him and Governor Amado.T Espino Jr. is the rightful leader that would inspire and will be believed upon by Pangasinense.

He said that although majority of these mayors attended the recent emergency meeting called upon by the governor at the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) office “It is not indicative of our support to Governor AmadoT Espino Jr.”.

“We came there to express our condemnation against the San Roque MultiPurpose Dam Cooperative (SRMPDC ) personnel responsible for the release of water that resulted to the inundation of our localities “.He said.

It will be recalled that just recently Former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada told PangasianToday that he is inclined to support the bid of former governor now second district congressman Victor Agbayani to run for the gubernatorial race in the next 2010 election.

He said that the Partido Ng Masang Pilipino during their consultation meetings with Pangasinan leaders who are now stalwart figures in the National level has chose to support Victor because of his admirable image.

Estrada in an one-one interview with this reporter on his fourth “Lakbay Pasasalamat” visit in Dagupan City said that he is personally inclined to support the bid of Agbayani for gubernatorial race.

“I am inclined to support the bid of Victor Agbayani una kasi I have seen how the old man served the people of this vote rich province, second is that Victor’s popularity in the common people or the masang pangalatok is undeniable, Victor is for Masa since he takes care of the grass roots of the province and the grassroots leaders and people of the masa is the people of this republic whether we like it or not this is the Philippines and Filipino is the common tao and not the elite.”

Estrada added that he is very much aware that Agbayani was already happy serving his constituent in the congressional level since he could lobby for more development projects in the national government for his district however because of the attacks to his leadership being the former governor of this province he was pushed beyond his limits and has to join the race.

Previously,  In separate interviews Governor Amado T Espino Jr. and former governor now second congressional district Congressman Victor E Agbayani accepted the proposal for both of them to debate on issues pertaining to the governance of the province of Pangasinan.

It will be recalled that Governor Espino openly said that he is willing to debate with congressman Agbayani so as issues of public interest will be properly discussed and elaborated for the people of this province.

In agreeing to such a debate he said public issues that cover public interest will be argued on a higher level of discussions which will lead the public for their enlightment.

Meanwhile, in a radio interview on the now very popular radio program “Mga Isyu Ng BAyan” aired over Aksyon Radyo hosted by Mr. Orly Navarro 2^nd District Congressman Victor Agbayani readily accepted the proposal.

He said though, that Governor Espino along with his drum beaters should not be onion skin especially on simple issues which likely concerns the style of leadership of Governor Espino.

Apparently alluding to a neutral ground he said that the debate should be on a right place and the right time.

Earlier,  both Mayors Ferdinand Calimlim of Mapandan and Simplicio Sammy Rosario of Binamaley agreed that the encounter for the governorship between Governor Espino and Congressman Agbayani may now seem inevitable.

Mayor Ferdinand Calimlim said “wala po kahit sino sa atin ang may hawak sa kapalaran at desisyon ng sinu man sa mga susunod na araw, kung sarili nga nating desisyon hindi pa nga pina, marami pa namang puedeng mangyari sa mga susunod na araw but there is one thing for sure tayo po ay nabubuhay sa isang demokratikong lipunan libre po ang lahat na mag express ng kani-kaniyang saloobin, at gumanap sa kahit na anong role na gusto niya at ganun din sa pag sali nya sa karera na gusto niyang salihan.

For all we know e baka mamaya may mga nag uusap usap dyan so for us to predict kung anu ang magiging labanan sa pulitika ay pre-mature until November 30, 2009
